More than 30,000 people are without power after an outage hit Sydney's north-west on Friday afternoon.
Residents in the area reported hearing a bang at around 4.45pm as the power went out, before people walked into the street to see what had happened.
The widespread outage covers the suburbs of Rhodes, Putney, Ryde, West Ryde, Denistone East, Meadowbank, Eastwood and Marsfield.
Emergency power crews are on their way to the scene, but power is not expected to be restored for several hours.
Ausgrid has been contacted for comment.
