Family and friends of missing man Matthew Leveson have returned to bushland south of Sydney as the search for his remains enters a fifth day.
Search teams and two excavators were at Waterfall, in the Royal National Park, at 7.30am on Monday to comb the dense scrub for Mr Leveson's body.
His parents, Mark and Faye Leveson, and other family and friends arrived early and are awaiting developments in a NSW State Emergency Service tent.
Investigators have been searching the bushland since last week when Mr Leveson's former boyfriend Michael Atkins, who was acquitted of his murder in 2009, led them to the site.
Matthew Leveson disappeared in September 2007 after leaving a Darlinghurst nightclub with Mr Atkins.
