Toddler rushed to hospital in critical condition after being left in car

A three-year-old child has been rushed to hospital by NSW paramedics in a critical condition, after being found in a car unconscious and not breathing.

Emergency services were called to Cameo Circuit, Glenwood in Sydney's north-west, about 4.45 pm on Saturday, where the young girl was found inside a car.

The child was treated by the paramedics at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

Channel Nine reports the child had been locked in the car for hours after the family returned home from Christmas shopping around midday.

It is believed the toddler was last seen at about 2 pm, before being found unresponsive after 4.30 pm.

NSW Police say they have commenced an investigation into the incident.
