Man rushed to hospital with burns after car fire in Baulkham Hills

A man has been rushed to hospital with significant burns after a car fire in Sydney's north-west.

Fire crews were called to the scene at Antill Crescent in Baulkham Hills just before midday on Tuesday and found a car on fire and a man on the footpath with burns, a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said.

Five paramedic crews including the Careflight Rescue Helicopter rushed to the scene and the man was treated for significant burns to his chest and torso, an ambulance spokesman said.

The 29-year-old was taken by road to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Fire crews extinguished the smouldering car fire quickly, the FRNSW spokesman said.

It's believed the man was working on the car when a fuel container caught fire.

More to come.
