Man and woman found dead in Tamworth house

A man and a woman have been found dead in a house in East Tamworth in northern NSW, police say.

Emergency services were called to the house on Bailey Avenue about 10.30pm on Sunday after concerns were raised for the pair's welfare.

Police arrived to find the bodies of a man and woman.

Police are understood to be investigating whether the pair died in a murder-suicide.

"Initial investigations suggest that no one else is being sought in relation to the matter," police said in a statement.

"[Police] are in contact with family members and are assisting them through this investigation process."

Officers from the Oxley Local Area Command set up a crime scene at the house, and forensic police examined the scene.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said no further details were available, including how the couple died.

The man and woman are expected to be formally identified on Monday, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
